How To Make A Difference In The Comm Center

Are you concerned about: resentment, sabotage, grievances, militancy, micromanagement, absent management, hierarchy,  punishing, withdrawal, cold or bitter behavior, defensive posture, labeling, enemies, guarded  communications, suspicion, mistakes as weapons, history as guide, time wasted on defending, unhappy employees, unhappy management, CYA, hidden agendas, just a job - in your Comm Center?

Sue Pivetta of, addresses this and much more in her new book, Becoming the Peacemaker In The Comm Center, is being offered for free from her web site.

Excerpt from the book:  In a high stress environment, where people work in their own realm, with their own ideas and ways, when choices and interpretation exist there is potential for disagreement. Such differences, when handled properly, can result in richer, more effective, creative solutions. Yet it takes real processes and leadership to turn conflict into peace in a Comm Center. It is difficult to consistently turn differences into opportunities without purposeful attention to conflict management. When disagreement is poorly dealt with, the outcome can be contention. Contention creates a sense of psychological distance between people, such as feelings of resentment, dislike, alienation, and disregard.

The book ties in with a “Becoming The Peacemaker” seminar that Sue is presenting at the National APCO Conference next week in Washington D.C.  Sue is also offering advance download of her handouts for this seminar (click here for the PDF file).  The Becoming The Peacemaker Seminar will be presented on Weds. Aug. 19, at 2:25PM in room 151AB at the APCO conference.
