Icom America has secured a multi-million dollar contract with Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) to migrate the transit agency’s radio system to an IDAS™ 6.25 kHz multi-site conventional voting solution (IDAS Blue). IDAS Blue provides LACMTA seamless roaming, wide area coverage and reliable communication above and below ground, throughout the agency’s 1,433-square-mile service area and six rail lines. The digital two-way radio system includes Icom F3161D and F3261D portables, F5061DS mobiles, FR5000 repeaters, Avtec consoles and TASC Monitoring equipment. IDAS Blue equipment is extremely scalable and designed to meet the expansion needs of LA Metro well into the future.

"Icom's versatile technology is used by New York City Transit as well as in the nation's biggest freight and transit railroads," says Icom America Key Accounts Manager Rodney Grim. "We offer simulcast replacement solutions at a fraction of the cost of older systems."
