San José Firefighters responded to a working residential structure fire on Dorrance Court on the afternoon of January 4th, 2016. Upon arrival crews made access to the interior of a one-story home and discovered a heavy smoke condition with near-zero visibility.
Neighbors alerted firefighters that two dogs were in the home prompting a search. Both dogs were located and removed from the structure in unresponsive condition. Efforts were quickly started to resuscitate the animals while interior crews attacked the fire.
One of the dogs could be on scene, and was transported to an emergency vet; sadly the second dog could not be resuscitated. The fire was knocked down very quickly and there were no other injuries.
