From the Field: Car Crashes into 2nd Floor Dental Office

Shortly before 5:30 AM on Sunday, January 14, 2018, the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) in Santa Ana (CA) responded to a report of vehicle that crashed into the second floor of a small office building containing a dental office. Santa Ana PD received a report that a white Nissan Altima crossed three lanes on 17th St near French St. before it hit a center divider, soared into the air, and plowed into the two-story structure, where it became lodged.

OCFA reported that one person self-extricated, and the other person was still trapped in the vehicle when they arrived. That person was rescued by firefighters. The vehicle started a fire that was quickly extinguished, and firefighters confirmed both victims suffered only minor injuries.

Members from OCFA & Los Angeles County Urban Search & Rescue teams removed the vehicle from the building. The driver of the vehicle, whose name was not released, was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, Santa Ana police said Sunday afternoon.

Updated: New video of car launching into the air (and bus from above video passing by after a near hit) from security camera at a nearby business - also some more video from the scene after public safety arrives, all here from NBC photojournalist Kenny Holmes twitter post.
