9th Annual California Mobile Command Center Rally Set for May 10 in Sacramento
The California Fire Chiefs Association, Communications Section, in conjunction with the Northern Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials – International (NAPCO) and the Sacramento Metro Fire Department will host and facilitate the 9th Annual mobile communications/command vehicle rally on Wednesday May 10th.
This year’s free event will take place at the Sacramento Metro Fire Fleet & Communications Facility at 4427 Dudley Blvd, McClellan Park from 9AM to 4PM.
This event will again gather together a wide variety of mobile command and communications units from around California in order to demonstrate the variety of capabilities and mutual aid operability of local and regional mobile comm units throughout the state. A variety of vehicles will be on display, from state-of-the-art commercial units as well as Do-It-Yourself vehicles, in a myriad of sizes, shapes, and configurations, from diverse public safety and support agencies, including local, regional, state, federal, military, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
The Rally will again include a curriculum of relevant classroom presentations that will enhance the demos and tours of the Command Vehicles. Topics so far include: The “SafetyNet” to FirstNet: integration of Cellular/Band 14 Firstnet with HF, alignment of ACU DSP radio resource channels, Mobile Command Backhaul Extensions, and, planned, a group discussion on command and communications during the recent Oroville Dam Incident.
Field communicators, Comm Unit Leaders, Incident commanders, patrol supervisors, incident dispatchers, emergency managers, and other public safety professionals will be able to:
- See firsthand what command and communications resources are available in the area
- Obtain a better understanding of Incident Management for large scale operations utilizing COMLs, Incident Dispatchers, and Incident Management Teams for fire, law, EMS, and all risk incidents.
Command units will need to be on location from 0800-1600 hours, and be accompanied by an agency representative able to host tours of the unit.
For more information, to reserve a spot for your command/comm unit, to volunteer to make a relevant classroom presentation (no sales presentations, please), or to RSVP your attendance, please contact Randall Larson, 2017 MCC Rally Plans Section Chief, at firstname.lastname@example.org
