Microsoft, Verizon, Facebook to present best practices, lessons learned

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in concert with the Arizona Division of Emergency Management will host the third annual FEMA Region IX Public-Private Sector Leadership Conference on Feb. 19, 2014 in Phoenix, Ariz. The theme of this year’s symposium is “Perception vs. Reality.”

The Public-Private Sector Leadership Conference affords representatives of the public, private and nonprofit sectors the opportunity to network, share best practices, and generally benefit from the emergency management experiences of the “Whole Community.”

FEMA Regional Administrator Nancy Ward and Wendy Smith-Reeve, Director of the Arizona Division of Emergency Management will deliver this year’s keynote addresses.

In keeping with the theme of "Perception vs. Reality," invited speakers/panelists will discuss such emerging trends and topics as:

  • How to build proven partnerships at the state level
  • Building sustainable relationships at the county level
  • Private sector perspective: Corporate social responsibility and emerging trends
  • Emerging threats in cyber security
  • Best practices for Social Media before, during and after disasters
