On October 13, 2016, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Pasadena Office of Emergency Management hosted our first Southeast Texas Region Mobile Command Vehicle Rally at the Pasadena Convention Center. The event was a huge success with a large turnout of participants and Mobile Command vehicles.

There were a dozen Mobile Command vehicles and several tent displays set up showcasing various field communication technologies, which included portable radio gateways, RF interference detectors, underwater recon cameras, and drones to just name a few of the assets. The vehicles included such assets as Incident Command Vehicles from all disciplines of the Public Safety sector, First Responder vehicles with dispatch stations, IT support vehicles, Radio Shop displays, Air Support units with live video streaming, and multi-agency Command Centers.

There were free educational sessions during this event conducted by vendors to discuss in detail the communications technologies found in the assets showcased in the parking lot. This allowed participants to learn more about the equipment and provide some Q&A time with the vendors to better understand the technologies.

This Rally is intended to be an annual event, and we hope that next year we’ll have an even bigger and better event, perhaps adding a training component for attendees.
