PROCTOR BRIDGES WIRELESS E9-1-1 GAP

Cell-Link, a new cellular telephone identification system from Proctor & Associates, gives wireless customers access to enhanced 9-1-1 services. Formerly, 9-1-1 calls from wireless telephones were sometimes routed to the wrong PSAP resulting in manual transfers from one PSAP to another, causing delays. In addition, the emergency dispatcher wasn't provided with a complete 10-digit number for the caller, preventing the dispatcher from calling back if the 9-1-1 caller was disconnected. With Cell-Link, wireless calls are routed to the correct PSAP, avoiding time consuming transfers. A 10-digit phone number is provided for callback, even if the caller is "roaming." Cell-Link meets Phase 1 FCC rules, and the system's modular structure supports provisioning over a wide range of trunk capabilities.

MODULAR WINDOWS NT-BASED CONSOLE SYSTEM

A new Windows NT-based communications dispatch system, the Ultra-Com NT, is available from Modular Communication Systems. All software is incorporated into the system, giving the user complete control over screen appearance and system functionality, precluding reprogramming charges. The Ultra-Com NT console system utilizes extensive use of Complex Programmable Logic Devices which reduce the number of discrete integrated circuits and provide greater hardware flexibility. The operator position consists of a Pentium PC, a high-resolution color monitor and a Digital Audio Module package. Data entry is made by mouse or trackball; a touch-screen option is available. A diagnostic program provides for extensive diagnostic tests to be conducted automatically and/or manually, which identify software and hardware problems and recommends corrective action in easy-to-read diagnostic messages.

Constructed of heavy duty PVC material, "Waterwall" weighs 130 lbs. empty. There is no need for heavy equipment or large numbers of volunteer workers. "Waterwall" can be dismantled, moved or removed by draining the ballast. The system can be cleaned, stored and used again.
