Portable Command Post

CML introduces their first ever fully-portable answering position, the Command Post 9-1-1. This portable answering position is a key player in the disaster recovery plan for a PSAP and even an entire E9-1-1 network. In case of an emergency evacuation or incapacitation of the PSAP, the Command Post can be used to dial into the CML controller to process 9-1-1 calls. Command Post can also be used a backup system for an entire E9-1-1 network. In a scenario where there is a failure in the network between the 9-1-1 tandem and any PSAP controller, calls for that controller can be rerouted to a CML controller and Command Post 9-1-1 can be used to dial in from any location to process calls. Disruption to 9-1-1 service is minimized if not eliminated, even under the worst conditions.

Mobile Antenna Tower

Ideal for 2-way radio, temporary, and emergency communications, trunking systems, site surveys, and other applications, Aluma Tower Company has introduced the Model TM-61-60-EB S812/T-100, a newly-developed trailer tower unit complete with an insulated Shelter and a 100-foot aluminum crankup tower. Compact Wireless Data Radio

DataRadio has created Integra, a new product technology that meets the growing demand for wireless data on scarce frequency resources and expands the choices of data applications seeking radio connectivity. The compact unit is available in all narrow band FM segments between 150 and 900 MHz. Integra supports transparent data for both fixed SCADA and integration of SCADA into mobile data networks. With minimal overhead, Integra offers a true 9600bps data throughput. Until now, equipment with these capabilities was bulky, power hungry, and very expensive. Integra provides the latest features in a compact form and delivers it at a reasonable price.

Extreme Mobile Products

From The Netherlands comes the HPC 2000 from DCA Intertel, a palmtop PC fully-MSDOS compatible with a 386 processor and optional docking station, vehicle cradle, and/or Barcode reader. Flexible configuration modules makes the unit a versatile information tool in the field. Also available is the MP 2000, a rugged dot-matrix printer specifically made for use in vehicles. Both products are integrated into the MDS 2000 Mobile Data Station, which allows you to take a complete system, enclosed in a hard shell case, wherever you go. The MDS 2000 can be configured to your specific mobile requirements with line- or wireless communications capabilities. Email for more information: rsdca@worldaccess.nl.

EAS Alerting System Manager

In response to the Emergency Alert System adopted by the FCC to replace the old Emergency Broadcast System, Federal Signal's Emergency Manager Alert System (EMAS) consists of an FCC Type Certified Encoder/Decoder to originate messages and to confirm their dissemination. The unit has logging and storing capabilities and can receive messages from up to six different sources. The EMAS gives Emergency Management Professionals the capability to reach AM, FM, TV broadcasters and cable operators, in addition to other emergency organizations with a single transmission.

Keep Your Time In Synch with Netclock

Spectracom has introduced the Netclock/2 Model 8182 Master Clock, which coordinates clocks between voice recorders, ANI/ALI, consoles, and CAD systems. The unit includes all features and time code outputs required to make system integration easy, complete, and compliant with NENA standards. The Netclock/GPS Model 8183 allows also automatically tracks up to eight satellites and generates accurate timing by synchronizing to the satellites' triple-redundant atomic clocks. Both master clocks are continuously traceable to a legal source of time and exceed the NENA PSAP Master Clock Standard.

"Laser-Pop" That Patch!

Pacific Sportswear and Emblem Company is now providing custom patches in 3-D "Laser Pop" style. Combining their Laser-Cut process with their 3-D PopStitch (foam) patches, the company will die-cut any logo and bring it to life as a 3-dimensional, PopStitch patch. Better yet, they cost 50% less than direct embroidery. See the company's website at http://www.pacsport.com.

Multi-Line Paging Remote from Zetron

For much less than the cost of a full-blown console, Zetron's new Model 284 Multi-line Tone Remote controls one to four base stations from a single desktop instrument the size of a normal desktop telephone. Its large liquid crystal display identified frequency selections and pager capcodes in easily readable text. A built-in paging encoder allows name verification of paging selection, allows users to scroll through preprogrammed pager codes and names, and provided advanced paging options such as stack paging of up to ten users. The Model 284 is PC programmable so key functions can be defined in the field. Website: http://www.zetron.com.

Notebook-Sized Satellite Communications

Designed for emergency response organizations and remote site industries, Mitsubishi's new OmniQuest is a notebook-sized satellite communications system. Capable of voice, data, fax, and dispatch through North America, via the American Mobile Satellite Corporation's (AMSA) mobile communications system. The lightweight terminal gives users access to AMSC's full range of mobile communications services. OmniQuest's ability to use a variety of antenna options, in addition to its built-in antenna, enhances its versatility and makes it the only satellite terminal offering portable, semi-fixed, and mobile use capabilities.

Avoid Overloads with Kussmaul's Load Manager

Developed especially for fire trucks, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles, the Load Manager Mark IV-AT from Kussmaul Electronics sheds excess loads when the vehicle's electrical system is overloaded. Prior to disconnecting the first load, however, a High Idle output is obtained to increase engine speed and alternator output. If the overload persists, loads are shed until the overload is eliminated. Programming switches are provided to permit changing load shed priority at any time.

Zetron Caller ID System

From Zetron's Public Safety Division comes the Model 970 Caller ID System for enhancing new and existing PSAP and dispatch telephone systems. Whether a communications center is equipped with E 9-1-1, basic 9-1-1, or no 9-1-1 capability at all, the Model 970 can be easily incorporated into most 1A2 telephone systems to provide E 9-1-1-like information from 7 digit lines. It decodes and presents the caller ID information provided with 7 digit calls, including those used for emergency numbers. Depending on the format utilized by the telephone company, caller ID information can include time and date of call, telephone number of the caller and the name associated with that number. The Model 970 is CAD compatible.
