911Plus A LifeSafety Solution

A nationwide service called 911Plus has been introduced by LifeSafety Solutions which will provide police, fire and emergency medical services with critical information about callers. Medical history, preexisting conditions and location of children, the elderly or infirm will be available. With 911Plus, when a subscriber calls 9 - 1 - 1 for help, a simultaneous transmission of their personal information is routed from the 911Plus database and delivered via computer screen to the 9 - 1 - 1 calltaker at the time the emergency call is answered. A designated third party (such as a relative, caregiver or neighbor) who has been identified as an emergency contact by the subscriber, is notified by the 911Plus Communications Center that a 9 - 1 - 1 call was initiated. This service will eventually have multiple communication centers connected to the more than 7,000 public safety agencies across the country.

Earmark's Speaker Mic

Never lose control of your hand held radio and never break the seal of your mask with the ESM (Earmark Speaker Mic) from Earmark. Choose either an Earmark SAC or Throat microphone and slip the secure pin connector in the bottom of the ESM. Send messages through an SCBA mask over the radio. Housed in a tough, splash resistant case, it resists weather elements and fireground conditions. A front-mounted volume switch puts the control at your fingertips. A spring clip holds ESM in place. ESM ships with the radio interface cord premounted.

Open Those Gates with a Wail or a Yelp

SOS is offering a new, additional version of the Siren-Operated Sensor (SOS) which open security gates with a 3-second "yelp" from an emergency responder's siren. The new version, designated YDT, works like this: if the responder is close enough to the gate and produces the "yelp," the SOS will close its relay in 3 seconds. If the responder is not using the "yelp," but the decibel level remains high for an additional 2 seconds, the SOS will trigger the gate to open. This new version will therefore respond to the "wail" or any consistent sound producing 5 seconds of high decibel. The YDT version is useful when older emergency vehicles don't have the "yelp" mode. The SOS costs emergency responders nothing, as they already possess the "key." Some areas are now requiring that their gated communities be 9-1-1 accessible; the SOS provides a uniform and economical means of meeting that requirement.

Wireless Solutions

Together, the SIR (Signaling Interface Router ) and the AMI (ALI Message Integrator) from CML Technologies provide a cost effective and upward compatible solution for existing E9-1-1 networks to provide PSAPs with location information obtained from the Wireless system. The CML solution uses standard D-Trunks (analog or digital T1) to pass Wireless E9-1-1 calls with location and call back information from the MTSO to the SIR. The SIR converts the call back information into standard eight digit ANI and selectively routes (by trunk or caller location) the E9-1-1 calls on CAMA Trunks (analog or digital) to the existing SIR. The location is sent over a separate data stream to the AML database. When SS7 is upgraded to carry 9 - 1 - 1 calls, PANI and X,Y coordinates, the SIR will only require an upgrade. At that time, the SIR eliminates the need to replace or extensively modify existing 9-1-1 SRs.
