| FUNNY MEETING BREAKS FROM VIDEO ARTS Opening a training course or meeting with Public Service From Hell! is guaranteed to warm up audiences to the more serious messages of any gathering of public service professionals. The 9-minute video delivers a barrage of wrong-way public service vignettes that ignite communal laughter, breaking the ice at the beginning of a meeting or bringing it to a memorable close. Any employee in the public sector will laugh and learn when Video Arts favorites like Dawn French, Hugh Laurie, Jennifer Saunders, and company co-founder John Cleese portray the problem people of today's public service organizations: an irritable customer service rep, a disgruntled back office employee, an overbearing manager. By demonstrating the most monstrous public service behavior, Public Service From Hell! reminds employees to be on their best behavior when they're back on the job. http://www.video-arts.com | |
| REAL NICE DIGITAL LOGGER NICE Systems has introduced NiceLog 7, a new version of its digital voice logger which offers a new compression algorithm - the first in the market to offer such low compression rates - that enhances storage and audio quality. NiceLog7 allows up to 8,760 channel hours of on-line recordings for instant retrieval and 21,000 hours of unattended archiving of audio, and a remote archiving facility. These capabilities provide PSAPs with increased storage, improved audio quality and reliability, and support for recovery sites. NiceLog 7 is also the first digital logger to offer a Remote Tape Server, which enables secured remote archiving and retrieval of audio over a LAN using a private network segment, ensuring that audio, recorded at the main site, is also stored at a back-up recovery site. In addition, NICE Systems' Fast Ethernet LAN interface allows customers to install NiceLog on their Fast Ethernet LAN or backbone if required. | |

| A SYMPHONY FROM DICTAPHONE Dictaphone's Symphony CTI uses real-time data from a PBX or an ANI/ALI controller to facilitate finding logged calls. Its Advanced Call Retrieval System (ACRS) is capable of capturing a variety of data, including but not limited to ANI, ALI, called party, extension, and station ID. The system's open architecture allows it to be customized to capture other data - for example, an incident number or dispatcher ID from a CAD system. This information is stored in a centralized ODBC call records database and can be used to access calls a day, a month, even a year or more after they happen. For public safety operations with trunking radio systems, retrieving and playing back recorded radio communications can be difficult since communications associated with a single incident can be recorded across many virtual channels. Symphony CTI can integrate with trunking radio systems to capture talk group data allowing any sequence of conversations to be accurately reconstructed, from beginning to end, even if they've been recorded on many different channels. http://www.dictaphone.com | |
| EDACS WIRELESS SCADA Zetron's ULTRAc Wireless Monitoring and Control System is now available for operation over customers' EDACS® networks. ULTRAc RTUs include digital and analog inputs and outputs for economical data acquisition, remote control and alarm monitoring. EDACS networks enable ULTRAc systems to operate over wide areas with multiple radio site coverage. Communications can be initiated by alarm conditions at the RTU, by regular polling from the central station, and on demand by the operator. Processing of the data at the control site is done with ULTRAc+ software on a PC or via MODBUS interface to the customer's SCADA system. Alarm conditions can trigger telephone autodialers and direct or paging terminal broadcast of voice messages or alphanumeric messages. Control actions can be sent to the remote sites by portables, telephone access and PC commands. http://www.zetron.com | |
| MDT Visible in Bright Sunlight The SunView MDS2000, from Data911, is the first sunlight viewable PC-based computer that is built specifically for the vehicle. SunView MDS2000 consists of four components: display, processor, keyboard, and power supply. Separation of the system allows for more flexible mounting, and compliance with manufacturer's airbag restrictions. The display is 18 bit active matrix color, viewable in all lighting conditions including direct sunlight. It utilizes a touch screen for keyboard-less operation while driving. The processor provides speeds up to Pentium 200 and RAM up to 128 MB. The power supply is designed to keep the power constant even when cranking the vehicle engine, eliminating restarts of the computer and loss of data. The keyboard is detached and can be utilized when entering large amounts of data or for report writing and is illuminated for nighttime use. | |

| TRAFFIC WARNING DETECTOR Cobra Electronics, creator of the Safety Alert® Traffic Warning System, has developed a "safety-only" detector designed to warn motorists of emergency vehicles, roadside hazards and approaching trains. Unlike a radar detector, the SA-1000 is being marketed to give motorists advanced warning for frequent roadside hazards. The unit works in conjunction with the Safety Alert transmitter, which is installed in many emergency vehicles. The Traffic Warning System transmitter is linked to the emergency light control; when the emergency lights are on, the transmitter automatically sends out a Safety Alert Signal, which will trigger both Traffic Warning and radar detectors up to a mile away. http://www.cobraelec.com | |
| ACCESS LOCKED GATES WITH FIRESTROBE From Access Products, the FIRESTROBE 2000 opens motorized gates when activated by an emergency vehicle equipped with a standard operational strobe. The FIRESTROBE 2000 signal is received optically by line of sight. The range varies with ambient light and intensity of the strobe emitter (a typical range varies from 150 ft to 500 ft.) The detector will not allow false operation with unwanted signals such as flashing headlights or loud sounds. The FIRESTROBE can be used for security/electric gate access, firehouse garage doors, and other related access/egress needed by emergency vehicles. This strobe detector also provides rapid access to any gated community that has been serviced by fire and emergency equipment from the OPTICOMSTROBE SYSTEM.
